Carvico Vita

When it comes to our surf swimwear, we pride ourselves on using Carvico Vita fabric, which stands out for its sustainability and performance. Carvico Vita is a high-quality fabric that is manufactured by Carvico, an Italian textile company known for its commitment to sustainable practices. Carvico Vita fabric is produced in Italy, where Carvico's state-of-the-art facilities are located. The company is dedicated to minimising its environmental impact throughout the production process, from sourcing materials to manufacturing and finishing the fabric. Carvico Vita is a result of Carvico's expertise in creating sustainable textiles, and it exemplifies their commitment to both performance and eco-consciousness in the fashion industry.

At the heart of this fabric lies ECONYL@ yarn, a 100% regenerated nylon fiber that sets a new standard for eco-friendly textiles. ECONYL@ yarn is produced through a process that involves collecting and regenerating discarded nylon waste, such as fishing nets, carpet flooring, and industrial plastics. By giving these materials a second life, we not only prevent them from polluting our planet but also conserve precious resources that would otherwise be required for the production of virgin nylon.

We have made a conscious choice to only use Carvico Vita in our surf and swimwear products.

Why Carvico Vita?

  • Reduced Global Warming Impact: Carvico Vita reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil
  • Excellent fabric features: Carvico Vita fabric provides exceptional elasticity, durability, and resistance to chlorine, sun exposure, and abrasion. Its quick-drying properties ensure optimal comfort in and out of the water, allowing you to focus on catching the perfect wave

Limitations:

While we promote the use of Carvico Vita fabric, it's important that we acknowledge its limitations as well:

  • Plastic: Despite being a much more sustainable option to conventional nylon, the regenerated nylon in Carvico Vita is still plastic. During its lifetime, micro-plastics can still be released when washed and the fabric cannot break down on its own
  • Price: Carvico Vita is more expensive than conventional nylon fabrics

OEKO-TEX® Certified Dyes

We use the best OEKO-TEX® certified dyes for the prints as well. This means those vibrant colors stay bold for much longer. Though some fading can happen from sun exposure over time, our careful dye selection keeps the print looking beautiful, season after season.

Our OEKO-TEX® certified dyes have been scientifically tested for the presence of harmful substances and are a better and safer choice for your health.

Care

We recommend to hand wash your surf and swimwear items as cold and gentle as possible. Only machine wash if absolutely necessary.

Take extra care when washing off wax from surf wear, it can be difficult to wash off when it builds up. You can lightly rub some coconut oil on the wax to remove it if this does happen

Don't forget to wash the hardware or zipper if your garment has one to remove any salt and avoid tarnishing.

Lay your items flat to dry in the shade. We recommend to do this with the inside out, just in case any sun does reach your shady spot.

Please note that the print may fade with time depending on the frequency of use and exposure to UV.
